Analysis of college magazine

Analysis of college magazine
This college magazine is very formal and aimed at an older higher class. The colours used in this magazine are very bright and eye catching. They have used red for the masthead and dark and light blue for the writing. By using only to main colours and two different shades of colours it isn’t too confusing for the human eye but is bright enough to capture the student’s eye. The masthead will be the same style throughout the time this magazine will be published, because it will become instantly recognisable for the college students. There is one main picture of a girl who is holding her books, with a big smile on her face and looking life she doesn’t have any troubles; she also looks like she is having a lot of fun. This would attract not only the student going to the college but student looking for a college. The weather of the picture is sunny and makes the reader of the magazine happy before they even start reading the magazine. The image placement is slightly leaning to the left to have space for the text of the right hand side, making the text spread out; making it appear professional. The text is very bold and is in either bubble writing or bold, making it easier to read and to take up more space, this is good because students would rather look at good pictures than read. The text ‘NEW KIDS on the BLOCK’ is in big bold light style as is capture the reader eye. There chose of words is very student like and appeals to young students who use slag. This magazine haven’t used slag so much as its aimed at a higher class, but have worded it into their language. They have made ‘new kids’ and ‘block’ in capital letter as there the main words they want us to see. At the bottom of the magazine is white text with a dark blue background so your eye is draw to it. It says ‘join our SWS contest today and win attractive prizes’ this is appealing to a student as most teens have a mobile phone, and most teens want to win attractive prizes. It also says ‘sports climbing are YOU up for it ‘this is advertising there facilities as a college and egging the students on to do it by wording it as a rhetorical question. This magazine is free which is also appealing to students as they don’t have a lot of money unless they work, or have wealthy parents, as this is aimed at students of wealth this isn’t an issue for them. I down fall to this magazine is doesn’t say when it’s going to be republished.
